The effects
of gravity, exposure to the sun, and the stresses of daily life can
be seen in their faces as people age. Deep creases form between the
nose and mouth; the jawline grows loose and jowly; folds and fat deposits
appear around the neck.
A facelift can't stop this aging process except "set back the

excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and redraping the skin
of your face and neck. |

A "browlift"
or forehead lift is a process that restores a more youthful, refreshed
look to the area above the eyes. The procedure corrects drooping brows
and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person
appear angry, sad or tired.
May be done using the traditional technique, with an incision across
the top of the head just behind the hairline; or with the use of an
endoscope, which requires 3 to 5 short incisions. It is most commonly
performed in the 40-60 age range to minimize the visible effects of
aging. However, it can also help people of any age who have developed
furrows or frown lines due to stress or muscle activity. |

The effects
of sun damage and environmental pollutants begin to take their toll
on our skin as we age, creating lines and wrinkles on our faces. Laser
resurfacing can help minimize fine lines as they begin to occur, mainly
those that form around the mouth and eyes. Laser treatments can be
tailored to a variety of other skin problems as well.
Laser resurfacing is a relatively new method of improving skin texture
and appearance using a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser device. |

A few minutes to 1 hour. May

| Anesthesia
: |
Local with sedation, or general. |
| In/Outpatient

Usually outpatient, unless
combined with other surgical procedures that require hospitalization. |
| Side
Effects : |
Discomfort. Temporary swelling,
Lightening of treated skin. Acute sun sensitivity. Increased sensitivity
to makeup. Pinkness or redness in skin that may persist for up to
6 months. |
| Risks

Scarring. Burns or injuries
caused by laser heat. Abnormal changes in skin color. Flare-up of
viral infections ("cold sores") and other infections (rare). |
| Recovery

Back to work : 02 weeks. More
strenuous activities: 4-6 weeks. Complete fading of redness : 6 months
